Integrated medical coverage and care with HMO plan designs, coordinated member tools, virtual care, pharmacy, and wellness support.

2026 plan guide

How the coverage is structured

Kaiser Permanente combines the health plan, hospitals, physicians, pharmacy, labs, and digital care tools in one coordinated system. Plan designs vary mainly in how premiums and member costs are divided.

01

Integrated care model

Kaiser clinicians, facilities, records, pharmacy, and coverage work within a connected system. Confirm that the available service area and facilities fit your household before enrolling.

02

Plan design choices

Options include copay, coinsurance, deductible, and HSA-qualified high-deductible plans. A lower premium can mean greater cost when care is used.

03

Metal tiers and financial help

Kaiser offers plans across standard metal tiers and Covered California cost-sharing reduction designs for eligible households. Financial assistance requires marketplace enrollment.

04

Dental coverage

Medical plans include pediatric dental benefits, while optional adult dental coverage may be available. Review separate dental terms, allowances, deductibles, and waiting periods.

Before and after enrollment

Using the plan with fewer surprises

Kaiser's member guide focuses on setting up digital access, choosing a doctor, understanding care options, managing prescriptions, and preparing before travel.

01

Register and choose a doctor

Create an account through kp.org or the Kaiser Permanente app, then select a primary care doctor by location, language, specialty, and other preferences.

02

Choose the right care setting

Depending on availability, members can use phone, video, e-visits, in-person appointments, urgent care, and emergency services. Emergency care does not require prior authorization.

03

Manage prescriptions

Use the app, website, phone, or pharmacy for refills and review the plan formulary. Mail delivery and faster delivery options may be available for eligible prescriptions.

04

Prepare before travel

Carry the member ID card, refill ongoing prescriptions, save the travel support number, and understand claim and post-stabilization approval requirements away from Kaiser service areas.
